Nicole Nighthawk's passion for songwriting began early in life. While in high school, a national songwriting competition saw her original song, ‘It’s What’s Within’, selected to be recorded and included on the ‘Enriching Australia’ album with Kate Ceberano and other celebrated Australian artists. Since then, Nicole has taken to the stage to support touring artists including Bic Runga, Shawn Mullins, Australian blues legend Russell Morris, and has performed on national television as backing vocalist for Christine Anu’s single release (Sunshine on a Rainy Day). Her performance of the National Anthem at the Drag Racing Nationals saw Nicole receive a standing ovation from an audience of 35,000 people.

With her band Grandhour, Nicole won Best Rock Artist at the 2016 Australian Independent Music Awards with their self-recorded, self-produced album ‘Bombs & Bullets’ - all songs written by Nicole. Only twelve months later, halfway through recording the band’s sophomore album, Nicole made the hardest decision of her life as she walked away from everything she had been working so hard towards. With the heartbreak of leaving her marriage to Grandhour Guitarist and Producer, Jason Hawkins weighing heavily on her shoulders, and the anguish of breaking up a band on the rise, Nicole’s six-year journey to her debut solo release has been paved with emotional lows, highs, feelings of loss, new love, and finding the strength within.

Although she was absent from the stage for years, Nicole never stopped writing. She found solace, inspiration, and healing within her songs and, little by little, started to shape the beginnings of her solo career. Now, settled into a new life as a proud member of the LGBT+ community, thousands of kilometres from Melbourne’s laneway bars and rock scene, Nicole calls Tropical North Queensland home.

Her first release as a solo artist, ‘No Tomorrow’ was co-produced with close friend, musician, and producer Voya Milutinovic. Voya has described the experience of working with Nicole in the studio as, “euphoric, emotional, and inspiring”. Stepping away from her rock roots, ‘No Tomorrow’ is an epic and melancholy dark pop track oozing with Nicole’s captivating energy and vocals. It’s a raw and authentic first single from her upcoming mixed-genre debut studio album ‘Heart On My Sleeve’.

Written, co-produced, and mixed by Nicole, 'No Tomorrow' is a stunning production exploring regret and the heartache of wasted time, the composition and music video features elements and scenes from deep space, symbolising distance and disconnection between lovers as they drift apart. The music video was filmed and directed by Nicole and her wife Leigh Hanna, who also features in the clip.
